The production of Cachaça in Brazil began in the XVI century with the sugar industry developed by Portuguese colonization. At that time, the fermentation of sugar cane's juice produced a sort of wine, which after a distillation process was named Cachaça.

With the improvement of production techniques, Cachaça became a very appreciated spirit, consumed even in the Portuguese Imperial Court, with economic importance to Brazil Colony.

Today, this traditional drink goes beyond Brazilian frontiers and is known in many countries all over the world.
